About

I'm Carl Griffin. I build websites and digital tools for small businesses, out of San Antonio, Texas.

I came to this work later than most, and I'm glad I did. I spent more than thirty years in software — testing it, building it, finding the flaws before customers ever saw them. Some of that was at IBM. Some was contract work on systems most people never think about but rely on every day. Underneath, the job never changed: make it work, then make sure it keeps working.

That's an odd thing to build a business on. Most people selling websites lead with how it looks. I lead with whether it works. Thirty years of quality assurance does that to a person — I can't hand you something I haven't tried to break first.

Somewhere along the way I noticed who gets left out. The one-person shop. The couple running a business off the kitchen table. The person who knows their trade cold but freezes at the word "automation." They get talked down to. They get sold five things when they needed one. They pay agency prices for junior work.

I build for them. One person, the whole job, a fair price, plain language the entire way. If you don't need something, I'll say so. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say that too.

When I'm not working, I'm usually out walking Lola Belle — a rescue pug who runs the house — and enjoying nature.
